Living Letters
A new set of living channel letters brings some greenery to our Design room. A vertical garden – the Sign Nerds way!
What We Did:
We opted for white interiors and black exteriors for the letters we mounted in our Design room, but the color combinations are endless. The mounting bar was made with raw aluminum to match our silver corrugated wall for a more discreet look. We wanted these to look like what they are – like someone snatched up some letters from our Channel Letter Department and planted them.
Easy Mounting:
The mounting bar lets us lift them on and off the wall easily (no tools required) in case we want to move or trade out plants. (Fingers crossed they all thrive, but let’s be honest, the Design Team doesn’t exactly have green thumbs. There’s a reason we chose low maintenance plants.)
Font Options:
Again, the options are endless. We could do simple logos or almost any font. The font matches our wall vinyl that reads DESIGN BUILD SERVICE throughout our first floor offices and hallway.
Choosing Plants:
Our letters are filled with succulents, so if we forget to water them a couple times, they’ll still be fine. You could do your logo or motto with anything from low maintenance moss to vibrant annuals that you switch out each season. We’ll build ‘em – you plant ‘em!
Timeline:
We planted these bad boys in late January and laid them flat on the counter until their roots were strong enough for them to go vertical (early March), but the timeline would be determined by the type of plants you use and if they already have established roots.
How long would it take to get YOUR vertical garden channel letters? While production times can vary based on our workload, usually we can produce a set of letters in about 3-4 weeks from down payment.
Our Message:
We chose the word GROW because it is our wish for our plants as well as our wish for our team members. As sign designers, sign makers, sign installers, and as people – we aspire to never stop growing! We want to continue to think outside the box for signage solutions and stretch the limits of what is possible.
